Books for Boys

In todays world you can find books on pretty much any subject you want, so why is it so hard for teenage boys to find good books? Now a days it seems that most teen books, or YA as they are commonly called, have female heroins and are stuffed with romance. Guys aren’t that into reading about kissing and dresses, they want to read about killing demons and beheading people. Even with all of the male YA authors out there there is still a shortage. In today’s modern society girls are allowed to take intrest in books that have male protagonists and violence, where as the male population is ridiculed if they even try to read a book written for females. To me this seems wrong. There should be more books out there for teenage boys to read without having to gravitate towards the adult section, which includes more sex and violence than we want to expose teenage boys to.

Here is a list of books that boys may enjoy;

  • Will Grayson, Will Grayson by David Levithan and John Green
  • Looking for Alaska by John Green
  • The Chronicals of Vladimir Tod by Heather Brewer
  • The Mortal Instruments By Cassandra Clare
  • Thirteen Days to Midnight by Patrick Carman
  • Hold Me Closer Necromancer by Lish McBride
  • Uglies, Pretties, Specials by Scott Westerfeld
